
Bhante Lakkana was born in Sri Lanka and came to the United States in 2024 to serve at the Cleveland Buddhist Vihara. He became a novice monk in 2010 at the age of 27 and received his higher ordination later that same year.
He received his monastic training under the guidance of the Most Venerable Attangane Ratanapala Nayaka Thero and Venerable Udadumbara Kashyapa Thero at the Samadhi Buddhist Center in Thabuththegama. Bhante Lakkana has practiced meditation in various forest and cave monasteries throughout Sri Lanka. Later, he went on to establish the Dheganthuduwa Lenagiri Forest Monastery in Bambarakiri Ella, Matale. He is recognized as a skillful meditation teacher.
