Meditation Teacher:
Most Ven. Kassapa Thero is the abbot of Labunoruwakanda Forest Monastery and the founder and the president of the Paramaththa Foundation, the parent organization of the International Center for Theravada Buddhism (ICTB). This foundation conducts many important initiatives to protect the Dhamma and Sri Lankan heritage, as well as to support economically challenged Sri Lankan families and students.
Ven. Kumara Kassapa has devoted his life to the study and practice of the pure Theravada Buddhist tradition as it was introduced 2600+ years ago, combining deep scholarly knowledge with profound meditation experience. Renowned for his clear and compassionate teachings, he has guided countless laypeople and monastics in Sri Lanka and abroad, helping them cultivate mindfulness, wisdom, and inner peace.
Under his leadership, the Paramaththa Foundation supports educational and cultural initiatives, which are funded through the ICTB, including the ICTB USA chapter. These initiatives include scholarships for economically disadvantaged students and support for their families, the Ola Leaf Book (puskola poth) preservation project, and the Institute for Tripitaka Education, which trains Buddhist monk scholars to protect Dhamma-Vinaya and cultural heritage for future generations.
