Cleveland Buddhist Vihara and Meditation Center has been in existence for greater than four years and it has fulfilled an unmet need of the Buddhist and peace-loving communities in the Northeast Ohio region. The temple offers free meditation classes every Sunday, monthly programs on selected Sundays, Buddhism and language classes for children, annual meditation retreats, youth camps on moral themes, memorial services for departed relatives, as well as spiritual counseling and blessing services for those in need. Our temple premises provide a space where both adults and children can learn, grow spiritually, and find solace and strength in times of adversity.
Under the leadership of Ven. Bhante Pemaratana, our resident monks provide all these services in the spirit of loving-kindness—always free of charge.

All temple activities take place at our premises located at 1695 Vernon Odom Blvd, Akron, which we acquired in 2021 through a mortgage. The monthly mortgage payment remains our greatest financial challenge.

To ensure the long-term sustainability of our temple and its programs, we are now launching the Mortgage Payoff Campaign—an effort to fully settle the remaining balance on our property. Becoming debt-free will allow us to dedicate more resources to our mission, supporting our community through programs, events, and spiritual guidance, without the burden of monthly mortgage payments.
